Shokay Yak Yarns
“Luxury with a story”. That’s how Shokay describes their hand-combed Himalayan yak down products. Their goal is to introduce this fiber into the global market to help support the economy of the Tibetan herders they source from and help them preserve their culture’s traditions in skilled crafts.
While most of their site is devoted to the gorgeous luxury blankets and accessories made of the stuff, the yak down yarn is available by the skein in 14 different colors. It must be soft. Look at how happy that baby is.

Have seen this in one home & loved the idea–Most interested in putting children’s hands & footprints on solid oilcloth to use under dinner table. What kind of paint do I use for prints & how do I seal so won’t wipe away? Thanks so much.
Oilcloth’s slick surface is not very paint friendly. However, you can paint on canvas with acrylic paints and then seal it with latex polyurethane. This makes a very durable and easy to clean floor cloth that looks a lot like painted oilcloth.

Thanks for the info. I read over all three letters and have posted my thoughts on the situation today on the blog. They are not very favorable for either side.
I think you are being a little harsh on Jenny here. She did not post the letter, and it was not an open letter, it was a direct letter to her friend who then posted it herself. Not that I disagree that she should have taken it up with urban threads first (although her letter implied that she actually has/was writing to them so whose to say she hadn’t but did it privately?).
And I also have to say, just because it is misinformation, Urban Threads actually charges more for their patterns because you buy one pattern (like the one spacegirl or a scooter) for $4 or so, and you get a whole giant sheet with lots of different patterns from Sublime Stitching. Just to clear that up. I disagree with you on UT having a better business model, SS does pretty well and have wide Indie appeal. They are very different companies and personally I find SS’s designs to be better quality.
I’ve been a member of their community and they have some incredibly talented people!
