Handcrafted Chair goes for $28,341,909
Recession-Proof Investing?
At Christie’s in Paris this week, an Eileen Gray “Dragon” Chair owned by Yves Saint Laurent sold at auction for more than ten times its estimate for a whopping $28 million and change.
The YSL collection, also including fine art by masters like Degas and Cezanne, broke the record for most valuable private collection sold at auction and seven world records for artists at auction. Yipes! There must not be a recession in France.
